What a Deep Clean Adds to a Standard Clean, Room by Room

Most homes in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area settle into a routine that keeps the everyday surfaces in good shape. A Standard Clean covers that ground well. But dust is stubborn in the desert, and some parts of a house only get attention when someone climbs a ladder or gets down on their knees. That's the gap a Deep Clean fills, and knowing exactly what it adds makes it much easier to decide which one your home needs.

The baseline: what a Standard Clean already covers

Jade's Standard Clean checklist is more thorough than many people expect. In the kitchen it includes scrubbing the counter tops, wiping the outside of every appliance, shining the sink and faucet, wiping door handles, light switches and outlets, and vacuuming and mopping the floors. Bedrooms get dusted, the mirrors get cleaned and the bed gets made. In the bathrooms, the tub, shower tiles and shower doors are scrubbed, the toilet is cleaned and disinfected inside and outside, and the towels are folded neatly. Common areas get dusted and the couches get wiped down. Every room gets its floors done.

Think of it as the upkeep that keeps a home feeling fresh from week to week. A Deep Clean offers all of those Standard Clean services, plus additional tasks. Those extra tasks are the ones that take time, reach and elbow grease.

Kitchens and bathrooms: the extra scrubbing

The Deep Clean checklist calls for extra scrubbing in the kitchen and bathrooms, along with extra attention to hard water stains. In practice that means the spots a regular pass leaves behind: the film around a faucet base, the grime along a tile line, the corners of a shower floor. The fronts of all your cabinets get wet wiped as well, which matters more than most people expect. Cabinet fronts near the stove and the trash can collect a thin layer of kitchen residue that dry dusting never touches.

Light fixtures are hand dusted, and higher areas get reached with a two step ladder. The fixture above a bathroom vanity or the top of a tall cabinet can hold a surprising amount of dust, and you won't notice until it's gone.

Bedrooms and living areas: edges, tracks and high spots

Dust settles on whatever is highest and flattest, and in the Phoenix area it arrives constantly from open doors, desert wind and dry air. A Deep Clean works through these places:

  • Baseboards, handrails and kick-boards wet wiped
  • Ceiling fans wet wiped
  • Window sills and tracks wet wiped
  • Blinds dry dusted with a microfiber cloth
  • Fronts and sides of all furniture wet wiped
  • Sofas, chairs and table legs wet wiped
  • Doors, door frames and door tracks wet wiped

Ceiling fans are a good example of why this list matters. One customer, Damon, wrote that Jade made sure the job was done, even the ceiling fans, something his past cleaners had skipped. Fans are easy to miss because you can't see the tops from the floor, but they move air around the room all day, and a thick layer of dust up there doesn't stay put forever.

Window tracks and door tracks are the other quiet offenders. Fine desert dust packs into them and turns to a gray paste if anything damp reaches it. Wet wiping them is slow work, which is exactly why it rarely happens in a quick weekly clean.

How to tell which one your home needs

A Deep Clean makes the most sense in a few situations. You might be booking a cleaner for the first time, or it may have been a long while since anyone did the baseboards and fans. You might be getting ready for guests, a holiday or a listing photo shoot. Or the seasons may have turned, and a summer of dust and a winter of closed windows have both left their mark. If your home was cleaned recently and you simply want it kept up, the Standard Clean is usually the right fit.

Many households do both: one Deep Clean to reset the house, then Standard Cleans on a regular schedule to keep it there. Jade also offers a Personalized Spot Clean, which deep cleans specific areas on top of the Standard Clean routine, so you can spread the heavier work across several visits instead of paying for it all at once.

Jade doesn't publish prices, because the right number depends on your home. She gives a free estimate, and you can ask about the Standard Clean and the Deep Clean side by side so you can see what the difference looks like for your space. She's an independent cleaner who builds relationships with her clients, so tell her what bothers you most and she'll build the visit around it. Any concerns noted within 48 hours of a cleaning get resolved at no added cost.
